Al Janad mosque in Taiz – Yemen
Close to Ta'iz off the Aden road is the Al Janad mosque – one of the oldest in Yemen, dating from the early 7th century with the original minaret, although other parts have been rebuilt over the years. It was built by Mua'ath Bin Jabal who was a companion of The Prophet. The first call to prayer in Yemen was called from here and it is one of the oldest mosques in the world, originally built in the style of the Kaaba mosque in Mecca.
Al Janad is a small village nowadays. ;
